Jen Gilomen

Jen Gilomen is an award-winning, Emmy®-nominated documentary producer, director, and cinematographer who has created films screened on PBS, Netflix, Amazon, Apple TV+ and at film festivals around the world, exploring topics such as queer issues, youth, healthcare, immigration, and climate change. Her feature documentary credits include The Chaplain & The Doctor (producer/DP/writer, Reel Medicine Media, 2025), Deep Down (co-directed and produced with Sally Rubin, Independent Lens, 2010), Life on the Line (with Sally Rubin, PBS, 2014), Unsettled (producer and cinematographer, dir. Tom Shepard, 2019), and Born for This (director/producer/dp, 2023). She often works collaboratively with subjects and does extensive impact campaign work with her films. In addition to directing, producing, and shooting her own work, Jen often creates client media and serves as a DP, additional cinematographer, or consulting producer for other talented Bay Area filmmakers.  She has had a long career mentoring and supporting other filmmakers as a director at BAVC Media, supervising producer at ITVS, board member of Working Films, member of distribution coöperative New Day Films, and co-founder of the Collective of Documentary Women Cinematographers.  Jen lives in San Francisco with her wife and daughter, and is currently consulting on a portfolio of films through Moving People Media, a nonprofit documentary production organization she co-founded with fellow filmmaker Samantha Grant.
